The Story Behind EP Watches
Every watch brand begins with a reason. For EP – Eduardo Pimenta Watches, that reason was never simply to create another object that tells the time. It was to create watches that could carry meaning: a beginning, a milestone, a memory, a decision, a piece of someone’s story.
EP Watches was founded in Switzerland by Eduardo Pimenta as an independent project shaped by a simple belief: true luxury does not need to be loud. It can be personal, deliberate and built with care. From a small atelier in Vuisternens-devant-Romont, Switzerland, that idea gradually became a watch brand.
A brand built from a personal idea
The name EP is not a marketing invention. It comes directly from its founder: Eduardo Pimenta. That matters because the brand was conceived from the beginning around a direct relationship between the person building the watch and the person who will eventually wear it.
Rather than starting with mass production, EP Watches began at the workbench. Components were studied, movements compared, cases and dials selected, combinations tested and watches assembled one by one. The process was practical, sometimes imperfect and always educational. Each finished watch helped define what the brand should become.
This is still part of the identity of EP Watches today. The ambition is not to imitate an industrial manufacture. It is to remain close to the product, to understand what goes into each piece and to keep the human element visible.

A small Swiss atelier, not a factory
The EP Watches atelier is located in the Swiss countryside in Vuisternens-devant-Romont. It is a compact creative and technical workspace rather than a production line. Here, watches are hand-assembled and individually checked in Switzerland, with attention given to assembly, adjustment, inspection and final presentation.
EP Watches does not pretend that every component is manufactured in-house. Modern independent watchmaking often depends on specialised suppliers for movements, cases, crystals, dials, hands and bracelets. The value of the EP approach lies in how those components are selected, combined, assembled, checked and turned into a coherent watch with its own identity.
That distinction is also important in the way the brand communicates. EP Watches describes its pieces as hand-assembled and individually checked in Switzerland; it does not use the legal designation “Swiss Made” for a watch unless that specific product is legally entitled to carry it.
L’Origine: the first chapter
The first creation to define the EP Watches story was L’Origine. Its name — “the origin” — was deliberately chosen. The watch represented the point at which an idea became something tangible that could be worn on the wrist.
Its open-heart architecture made that symbolism visible. Instead of hiding the mechanical movement completely, L’Origine reveals part of the mechanism in motion. The balance wheel is not merely a technical component; visually, it becomes the pulse of the watch.
That combination of mechanics and emotion would become an important part of the EP Watches language: reliable mechanical movements, expressive dials, carefully selected materials and a story that gives the watch a reason to exist beyond its specifications.

Why hand assembly matters to EP Watches
Hand assembly does not make a watch valuable by itself. What matters is what the process allows: direct inspection, closer attention to small details and a stronger connection with the finished piece.
At the atelier, the movement, dial, hands, case, crystal, crown, strap or bracelet and presentation are treated as parts of one final object. The goal is consistency — making sure that the watch leaving the workbench represents the design and standard intended for that model.
Depending on the collection, EP Watches uses carefully selected materials and components including 316L stainless steel, sapphire crystal and mechanical or meca-quartz movements chosen for the character of each watch.
More than a watch
The philosophy behind EP Watches is captured in a phrase that has stayed with the brand from the beginning: “More than time — it’s life.”
A watch can mark a wedding, a birthday, a new business, an achievement, a loss, a fresh start or simply a moment someone chooses not to forget. That is why personalisation, limited projects, collaborations and direct conversations with customers naturally became part of the EP Watches universe.
The objective is not to make the watch the most important thing in someone’s life. It is to create something capable of accompanying the moments that are.
An independent brand still being written
EP Watches remains a young independent brand. That means the story is not presented as if it were already complete. New models, collaborations, events, customers and lessons continue to shape what comes next.
For Eduardo, that openness is part of the project. The brand can evolve without losing the reason it started: to build watches with mechanical character, personal meaning and a visible human connection behind them.
